Troy Winterrowd
I have always had an eye for creating harmony with composition and color. My eye is drawn to graphic juxtapositions. I also love old things…forgotten things. They evoke feelings that are reflected visually through my lenses of the world. Like a painter with a blank canvas, I approach each subject differently. I let the subject direct my camera and my intuition guides the digital effects. Now and then a little humor and silliness come into play which is also a natural part of my being. It must be working - I have been overwhelmed with the enthusiastic response to my work in a short amount of time.
Disney, Sony, Universal and Hallmark all trusted me to direct their creative work. I was able to motivate their artists and designers to do their best work possible by sharing my vision. But now it is time to unleash and direct my own muse photography. It has evolved organically and I find it is the truest expression of the artist within Joy! An LA psychic once told me I would live to be 86. If I were to believe that…then this is my midpoint. What a great time to embark on this new adventure and to discover my own creative skills.
I invite you to view my work in two portfolios. One site consists of photos that I sell in my studio on my hand mounted wood photo blocks. I think they are indestructible, compelling and cool. Subjects will range from mid-century neon signs to architectural details to forgotten objects. The other portfolio is my commercial photography in the areas of real estate and retail. Both were unexpected ventures that came to me in response to my work and ability to capture the most compelling features of a product or property.
Asheville Artist Peter H. Peterson and I personally invite you to our studios in Riverview Station of the River Arts District.
